EcoTools Review

Published July 9, 2013 by laurrx

Recently i have been obsessed with EcoTools make up brushes, the finish they seem to give is amazing. i bought the Domed Bronzer Brush a while back and i absolutely loved it, so i bought a few more online and i got them cheaper than i would get them here.

Domed Bronzer Brush

bronzerbrushthis was around £13 i think and from from Boots.
I use this for applying bronzer all around the sides of my face and also to blend out in bronzer or concealer used to contour the cheekbones.
i am really impressed with this, as it’s quite a stiff brush. i was convinced it was going to apply the bronzer in a big blob but it applies even and really easily.
i once tried to use this for foundation, and it was a huge NO NO, the liquid went on my face in big blotches rather than evenly!

Deluxe Fan Brush

deluxefanthis is one of my newer brushes, which i love! this was $5.82 which was around £4.00. i can’t see it on the Boots website, so i don’t know how much the retail price would be.
i use this with Hoola around the sides of my face – and i know i just said this about the Bronzer Brush – and to contour my cheeks.
i also like to apply a highlighter on my cheekbones and the center of my face.

Custom Coverage Buffing Brush

buffing brush
this brush is not on Boots.com but i paid $5.75 for it, which is around £3.90, thats amazing for a make up brush this good!
this is beyond my new complete absolute favourite shiny amazing brush!! i’ve been using to apply my foundation/tinter moisturiser/BB cream. i can’t actually believe how perfect the finish is on it.

i’ve been using it with my Estee Lauder Double Wear, Bobbi Brown Tinted Moisturiser and No7 BB Cream. So here you can see i’ve been using it with three completely different types of product, and they all have different consistences, coverage, purposes etc.
I pour some of the product to my hand then lift it up with the brush and apply it to my face, using swirling motions, buffing it or slightly stippling it on.
i am 100% satisfied with this brush, and would recommend this to strangers on the street.

Airbrush Concealer

airbrushconcealeri wasnt really sold with this brush until around now to be honest, the only thing is that you need to be careful that you don’t pick up too much product. i merely dab the brush into a concealer before using it on my face.
i also find it works best with a concealer wand applicator. i use my Estee Lauder Double Wear concealer and i apply it under my eyes, then i use my brush in light, circular motions. Lighter around the eyes, as this is the most sensitive area.
using it with a cream concealer i find you need to be a little frugal with the concealer you use, if you use too much you end up with far too much product and
1. the concealer looks too cakey
2. the “airbrush” effect, that the brush is meant to have, just doesnt work

Six Piece Essential Eye Set

6piece
this contained 5 brushes and a travel bag for them, but i ditched the bag ’cause i wouldnt use it really. the brushes are travel size, so i wasnt sure what i really thought of them, i like 2, maybe 3 out of the 5 i got.

large eyeshadow brush – the website says “the large eye brush to blend a base shadow over the entire eyelid.” i use this brush to set concealer under my eye with a setting powder or a MAC MSF powder, which works so i don’t actually know how effective this is at applying eyeshadow.
angled crease brush – this “adds definition to the outer crease of your eye”, i use my no7 Crease/Blending brush to add the crease colour and then i use this brush to go back in with the final darkest colour to really make the crease stand out. Looking at the brush i thought it was too big, and looked like it was make a mess, but it’s really good and a handy brush!
petite eye shading brush – this “s perfect for an accent color.” i like this brush for applying the highlight colour in the inner corner. If i’m doing a really dramatic cut crease look, i use this brush or other small brushes to do the crease as it needs to be more defined to achieve that look.
highlighting brush – this is used to “accentuate the brow bone and inner corners of the eye”. this isnt used for either of these things. i use this to blend colours in the crease and outer corners. i couldnt even imagine applying anything into the inner corners with this thing! it’s a really big brush for that.
smudge brush –  this is for “mudging the shadow and liner along the lash line for a smoky finish” it’s probably my favourite in this pack actually! it does EXACTLY what it says and i use it for EXACTLY what i’m supposed to! the brush is stuff enough to manipulate eyeliner and shadows to achieve the perfect smokey eye!

this blog seems horrifically rambly, but i had to share it with. i am in love with ecotools and everytime i’m in boots i always just standing in the aisles just staring at them. i would definitely recommend this brand of brushes to anyone and everyone. they are amazing, and not too pricey!! especially if you get them on ebay! or anywhere else.

and they’re ECO FRIENDLY!

what more could you ask for

Review – Revlon 3-Barrel Jumbo Ceramic Waver

Published March 19, 2012 by laurrx

i always forget about this purchase, and always always forget how good it is!

i seen someone review these on youtube before i went to Florida, and i’d never seen them here so when i was over there i bought them. i got them in Target for about $25-ish – can’t fully remember. i was impressed by both the price and how well they worked. i have curling tongs which cost around £30 in stores and my hair doesn’t hold in the curl for a full night out, and i paid probably about £20 for these wavers and my hair is wavy for at least 2 days!

they actually look ugly as hell, like big transformers and look mega tricky to work, but they are really easy – unless you’re my sister and burn yourself…

another feature is changing the temperature – there’s settings 1-30. mines are always set at 30 cause they work best and make more prominent waves. i assume the lower settings make a subtle wave.

the barrels heat up really quickly – i burnt my hand today… and theres a clip right at the bottom of the handle, near the cord and it clips the handle down for easy storage. i find it really helpful because i have these, tongs, a hairdryer and straighteners in my drawer and they’re all entwined together…

this is the best picture i could find, i’m actually quite annoyed at myself for not using them more than i have. this was my 21st last July. (the dress is from a department in Macy’s…Grass Collection). it was a beach party and i’d been running around all day preparing the hall and buffet and that, so it was a quick idea. And the “beach waves” were fitting for my beach party theme.

in Target it was $25 as i said, i just found it on Amazon and it’s $22ish. but i can’t find it on UK amazon…?

i’m going to Aberdeen this weekend, and i’m planning on taking them since my hair worked out nicely today until the RAIN got it’s hands on it!!! i was not pleased.

i recommend these wavers 1000000%! they are really impressive and really inexpensive!

TITP and weekend plans

Published February 23, 2012 by laurrx

this morning, the line up for T in the Park was announced. last years line up was probably the best line up the festival has ever had, unfortunately we were in Florida so i could not have went.

there’s alot of mixed opinions about the line up and i think – and i don’t now if this is coming from somebody who is going – people need to keep their really strong opinions to themselves. i’ve been feeling alot like this lately. not everyone is the same and everyone can’t just think the same. otherwise it’d be a boring world. i have the weirdest tastes…i think i have more common interests with the kids i work with rather than my 21 year old friends.

i love disney and colourful things, glitter and cheesy music, nice weather to play in and snow to play in (none of this rain and overcast rubbish, thanks).

anyway…back to TITP

I am so excited about maybe half of the bands and the whole experience. if it’s not my thing, then it’s not my thing and i won’t go back… i’m happy i will be going though. Me, Linda, our “sister” Christine and our “big bro” Robert are going – family holiday!

Me, Kim and Joanne booked a holiday on Friday – Zante 16th August!
http://www.tzantehotel.com/

So mega excited. So i’ve started putting together some money plans and clothes plans and Euro plans for both Zante and TITP.

This weekend is JOANNE’S 21ST BIRTHDAY! and i am super excited. Joanne, Kim, Melo and I are all going for a nice meal in the Read Leaf Restaurant then we have booked a pod in the main bar and more people are coming to party with us! then on Saturday Joannes parents MoJo are throwing a party in the house for her. it’s gonna be such an amazing weekend and i cannot wait to give her her gifts! Spoiled girl!!!

anyway, i have a boiled egg boiling for my lunch!

New hair and ramble.

Published October 17, 2011 by laurrx

Hola amigos.
just a small ramble. this gorgeous glittery pink wall is from Sugarcube – www.sugarcubeglasgow.com. on friday i went out for my friend Nicole’s birthday. we got a booth and it included drinks and everything, it was so so so good. and the walls! the walls!!! arent they fabulous!! i was a little bit drunk, just a little… then dying in work yesterday. oh dear!

i also got my hair done on Thursday and i am loving it.
it is not properly clear, this was a picture taken to send to Melo but i like my hair here. i went for more blond and a nice trim. my hair looks healthier and i will definetly start going to the hairdressers when i need to. because i hadn’t been since December – how awful. my hairdresser was mortified and disgusted with me ha! this is also a picture of me, Dan and Lisa in sugarcube on Friday night.

Next up, i got my birthday present from Linda! isn’t it pretty. (ps my 21st was in july…) but it was definetly worth the wait!!!

not much more to say. tomorrow i am going to see Linda’s new flat tomorrow. i feel like i haven’t been excited or anything else just now, but to be frank it has definetly not hit me yet and i fear it will when we go see the flat. it’s also her birthday on tuesday and she has a week of work. so this is a really big week and i couldnt be happier for her!!

Rihanna – Loud tour.

Published October 12, 2011 by laurrx

RIHANNA IS A FULL ON BABE.
just saying.

Joking! i hate when people say “just saying”.

I went to see Rihanna tonight at the SECC. it’s the first time i have seen her and i must admit, i LOVED IT.  she is a fab performer and has an amazing voice. i went through a short phase of having a really strong dislike towards her and i really dont know why? but recently i have been loving all her stuff! her new song with Calvin Harris – We Found Love – is an absolute TUNE! Calvin Harris supported her and he is my new favourite DJ. i am currently downloading all his songs i dont have.

It was a standing concert (well there were seats but we were standing) and my feet are aching so bad right now. but it was so worth it!she came out in a pink tank and i was super excited! the set was amazing and the set list was amazing!! she sang “Let Me” which is right up at the top of my favourite Rihanna songs…actually probably one of my favourite songs ever list.

She sang “Take A Bow” near the end and i was stunned when she didnt actually have to sing until the line “..and the award for the best lie goes to you…”. i couldnt imagine how amazing it would feel to have an audience sing basically your entire song back to you. she even looked so thrilled and genuinely looked like she appreciated the fact. this video isnt that good of quality but i wasnt taking the videos to see, just to listen and re-live the whole concert!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WbZXaAiNyzo

i know, i know, the quality argh!! i hate the quality of iphone pics at gigs and nights out sometimes. but this is the view we got. shes gorgeous. she wore a lovely two piece to start and it was so colourful and glittery etc. and if you know me my two fave things are colour and glitter!

Rihanna covered Prince – Darling Nikki… in fact she done a short SEX-tion in the concert. She sand Darling Nikki, S&M, Let Me and Skin (where she brought a fan up and straddled him!!!). there was chains and leather involved and song lyrics including “masturbating with a magazine” and “almost there, so baby don’t stop what you’re doing.” i am 21 so these lyrics dont phase me much…but i was jamming away next to a full on CHILD. my cousin aged 12 loves Rihanna and if i was with her, i wouldnt have been able to bare these moments. However, again, at aged 21 it didnt bother me and i still loved it!

her very last song was Umbrella and kim turned round to me and said “have you got a brolly??” i laughed and said no. then about 30 seconds into the song there were umbrellas up in the arena. it was hysterical!!

so right now i’m gonna search all her albums and download all her songs, i am gay for her now.

hugs and concerts

The Town.

Published August 11, 2011 by laurrx

Hey, hey, hey…i’m what’s happening
pass that dutch, pass that dutch…

Anyhoo! Hi guys hope we’re all well.

So today I had an Open Day/Interview Making thingy jig in town and I’d like to share the wonders of Glasgow City Centre (it’s right at this very moment when i’m fully regretting not taking pictures).

Firstly, PET HATE! Walking up/down Buchanan street and people giving out leaflets advertising:
charities
shops
restaurants
offers
universities
people
buses
trains
make up
freaking painting!!!
Are all right up in amongst your face when its wet and you have an interview you’re stressing about and you just plain don’t enjoy having to take your earphones out!! Also one girl approached me at Starbucks chatting away then acted like i was the rude one when i took my earphones out. Now if i wanted to be contacted with my head would be UP! it wasnt!! Then further on down Buchanan Street and St Enoch Centre, i stood outside buttoning myself and getting my umbrella out and one girl fully weaved through a few people just to get to me…and she was going on about the same thing the Starbucks gal was! So i’d had enough – these two girls were not the only two – and said “yeah, i spoke to a girl up there” and she just beamed at me (obviously thinking that i had agreed and signed up for it). Her fave fell dramatically when i said “i said i wasnt interested, sorry” and smiled my best smile. I understand people have to traffic stop but just NO.

Then i was a tad early for my interview so i stood under some shelter at M&S and just people watched for 15 minutes or so. One guy – true Glaswegian this one – took about 10 minutes to walk past me, as for every one step he took he stumbled two steps back while his friend was going “george, moan mate! moan pal. Gonnae hurry up!”. I am sometimes mortified to live here.

But!

These days i have to say i am surprised and also impressed and proud of the Scots this past week. I can’t believe all these riots that are taking place down south right now. I think that they should be well embarrassed and ashamed of themselves. Apparently some guy up here has been arrested for attempting to start a riot. Thats what they need down there, some of the “Glesga Polis”… They’ll set them straight. I was a bit worried riots might start up here but my mum did say the police wouldn’t stand for it. And today Melo has recieved a BBM saying that there “might” be riots and police have went into Frasers/Zara etc to clear the window displays. So we decided “no we don’t believe that”.

Until!
dun dun dun!!!

I went into Frasers to visit my friend who works at Clarins and he told me that Prada and Gucci had been stripped bare on Tuesday night and all the floats had to be sent upstairs and not kept in the tills.

NOW, what do we believe? Could they start up in here? GADZ 😦 i hope not, i’ll not leave my house. And i need to party on Sunday night! Wooo!

Anyway enough of this blab and time for some sleep.

Night y’allllll
