Oscars 2012

Published February 28, 2012 by laurrx

i haven’t watched the Oscars yet, it’s still sitting unwatched in my sky+ planner. but i have had a good few looks at twitpics and on the look magazine website at outifts and hair styles etc.

i was planning on watching it until i watched Gossip Girl instead – was that the last of the season last night? it was beyond amazing.

Brangelina what are you all about?
i cannot stand Angelina Jolie (Team Aniston all the way) so this made me dislike her even more. why is she so pale?? and being that pale and wearing black just makes your ghostliness more white!!! her outfit actually BORES me. black dress, black shoes, no jewellery, no bright clutch… and her hair! i would not be paying that hair stylist – that’s if she did pay someone!!! it looks all back combed and teased and tuggy! i was quite disappointed in this look because, although i don’t like her, i think she can look like an absolute babe sometimes. and Brad…whats with the hair?! he looks like a homeless person. But i enjoy the suit. Any man in a suit is sexy, but he needed to fix his hair!

Jen grow your hair back out!
i really, really love Michelle Williams and have since Dawson’s Creek when she played cute “girl-next-door” Jen. this dress is absolutely stunning, the colour is really gorgeous but i don’t like the detail on the bottom half of the dress, it’s a bit much. her hair is gorgeous…but i really want her to grow her hair! i like long frill/skirt at the waist, it really helps give her shape, as she is quite up and down with no curves. i like the minimal accesories, they help the frill/skirt stand out and she doesnt look too OTT. the small pink clutch is really sweet and i genuinely JUST noticed it there! what’s with the paleness though? was that an oscars trend? i don’t get it…

Maya is a babe!
i think Maya Rudolph is an absolutely stunning woman! this dress is gorgeous and really shows off her figure, the colour really, really suits her skin tone. my favourite part of the dress is the silver detail around the waist, the gorgeous belt helps to show of Maya’s lovely figure. I could imagine the dress without the shoulder detail but not the waist bit. i really love her hair, the colour, the style, the length etc, i think its really nice, and her make up is really understated but it’s gorgeous.

i’ve actually noticed that, looking through all the red carpet pictures from the glitzy and glam event, the make up was far from glitzy. it was nude colours and red lips all round.

Meryl is a GOD!
The “Best Actress in A Leading Role”  Oscar winner looks so happy in this picture! when i see this i couldn’t help but smile. Meryl Streep is definitely up top in my favourite actress list! she looked amazing at the Oscars! her dress was a lovely colour and complemented her shape. it was age appropriate (because there is nothing more unattractive than an older woman wearing clothes that reveal far too much). i dont mean age appropriate to defend her but you know what i mean. i really thought her hair was lovely, it was so simple, but elegant. she had nothing round her neck, but the neckline was quite plunging, so wearing no necklace worked, to help show off the neckline. However she was drop down earrings like big bulbs, and they looked gorgeous on.

another thing i noticed was the use of minimal accesories – small amounts of  jewellery and small clutch bag. the detail and “wow” factors were all in the dresses!

So, looking at all these pictures has made me want to actually watch the oscars! So i predict another blog about them at some point in the near future!
